PAUL SHINN: Paul Shinn was born in Mainz, Germany and grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. After attending school at University of Missouri – Kansas City and University of North Texas, Paul moved to Boulder, CO to pursue further studies at the University of Colorado under the guidance of Jeff Jenkins. During his time in Kansas City, Paul played with the El Mambo Latin jazz group, with several big bands and most notably with his own trio with which he released their debut album "Reason Pure" in the summer of 2013, their sophomore album "Easy Now: Live at the Green Lady Lounge" in January of 2015 and their third album "Into That Good Night" in January of 2016. Along with playing in several different bands, Paul is also an accomplished solo pianist, having been chosen as a semifinalist to attend the 2010 Bösendorfer Solo Jazz Piano Competition at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland as well as a semifinalist to attend the 2016 UNISA International Jazz Piano Competition in Pretoria, South Africa. Paul's goal as a performer is to create a musical environment that will connect with an audience and transmit expressions of joy that cannot be conveyed in any other way.
DOMINIQUE SANDERS: Dominique Sanders is a bass player that currently resides is Kansas City MO, and is set on a mission to bring new vibes and waves to your ears. He is one of the most versatile musicians you will ever meet, and one of the few who can do a classical gig, Hip-Hop gig, Jazz gig, and Country all in the same weekend. He brings a totally unique style and approach to the bass that almost matches his unique personality as a person. You can catch him everywhere in Kansas City playing with the "Who's Who" of Kansas City, and players all around the World. In his young life he has shared the stage with the likes of Willie Nelson, Dave Matthews, Neal Young, George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Charlie Pride and many others.
DANIEL HOGANS: Over the years Daniel has performed as a sideman -- backing up an array of different local and national acts -- and shared the stage with hip hop artists such as School Boy Q, and members of Wu Tang Clan, as well as R&B artists Bobby V. and Vic Mensa. Daniel started his first gigs outside of church with Jazz artists Ron Miles, Dave Divine, Henry Butler, and Trent Austin. He now continues playing around the nation with artists such as Soloman Chapman, Crl Crrl, Gabe Mervine, Danette Hollowell, Paul Shinn and many others. He has studied with PhD Johnathan Latta, Brazilian master percussionist Henrique Alamedia, Kendrick Scott, and is currently studying with Jazz great Brad Goode.
Year End Concerts: November 20, Jerilyn Jorgensen and Cullan Bryant, always a favorite, violin and piano. There will be no concert on November 27.
Join the Music Festival in December as we welcome the first appearance of Michael Davis, violin and pianist Tim Burns on December 4. The multi-talented Elise Campbell graces the Music Room with flute and vocal on December 11 and the Estes Valley Chamber Singers close out December with a free concert on December 18; a gift to you for the holiday season.
Music Festival attendees will receive a 20% discount for brunch or dinner on the day of the concert, courtesy of the Stanley Hotel Cascade Restaurant. Additional parking is available next to the Concert Hall and behind the Stanley Hotel.
